    Devon smith - lead pastor

I have been all over the place! I was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and lived in the Shenandoah Valley, VA until I was 10. I then moved back to ABQ where I graduated from High School. I attended UNM for a year and then transferred to Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville, OK.

I went to Seminary in MS where I received a Masters in Divinity (M.Div) in 1998. After graduating from Seminary, My wife, Annette and I moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa and started a new church. After establishing this church, we left in 2000 and moved to Sedona, AZ to become an Associate/Youth Pastor.

While in AZ I applied for and was accepted to a one year Doctoral Scholarship at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. After finishing the course work, my family and I moved back to ABQ in 2003, planted a church, wrote a dissertation on leadership and Biblical Preaching and graduated in 2005 with a D.Min.

After graduating from Asbury, we moved to Texas to pastor a church in the Dallas area. After a great 4 years of tripling the church and growing the budget to nearly $900k, our family and I moved to the position of Dean of Online Learning at OKWU in July 2014. In 2014, I became the Director of our new Masters of Arts in Theology and Apologetics program where I was able to devote even more time to teaching.

In July 2018, I returned to the pastorate in Tucson, AZ where I am the Lead pastor of a Wesleyan Church. I continue to be an adjunct professor at OKWU and absolutely love the opportunity that God has opened up for me to be back in the Pastorate.

Devon and Annette have two boys- Micah and Levi. Both boys attend Oklahoma Wesleyan University.

    Jake phillips

Jake Phillips, 28, married to wife Andrada for 3 years, one son Maxwell (1yr) and another on the way.

Jake was born in Louisiana, but since his dad was in the Air Force, he claims Tucson and North Carolina (Bear Creek, NC and Greensboro, NC) as home. Jake holds a Bachelor's of Music Education and plays several instruments, primarily trumpet and guitar these days. Plays trumpet professionally, having done so in a professional jazz band, a cruise ship, and many pit orchestras for musicals. Has played various music in church since high school (trumpet, guitar, piano, drums, vocals).

Jake has been attending Foothills for approximately 3 years since Legacy and Foothills Church merged together. Jake also leads a LiFE Group.

Favorite Character in the Bible: David - like many Biblical figures, he was a flawed man who served God anyway and had a hand in the lineage of Christ, despite his mistakes.

Favorite thing to do in Tucson: While we don't get to do it often enough, I enjoy spending time outside golfing, hiking, and shooting.

I grew up in an Air Force family that moved to Tucson in 1963 and I've been here since then. Professionally I worked in banking for 26 years, then 25 years as a Human Resources Professional and am now retired. Married to Bill for 48 years. We have 2 adult children; 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

We have been at FCC more than 20 years. My current activities include member of the LBA, volunteering in the church office, co-hosting a Life Group, serving babies in the nursery, usher and greeter and member of the Hospitality Committee.

My husband and I are avid UA fans and attend many of the sporting events. We also enjoy finding and trying new local restaurants.

My favorite Bible character is Ruth. She was a woman of great faith and integrity and exhibited great kindness and loyalty. I value these characteristics highly.

I am a true born and bred Arizonian and Air Force Veteran. I was station over seas and never found a church to call home. Once I got back to the states, I wanted to get connected again and started looking for a church. I wasn’t able to find one nearby, so I started going to church with a friend. I would meet at her house and then we would drive to 45 minutes Foothills. After being there a few months They need extra hands for the media and I dove on in! I got involved with the media and social media and have been here ever since! This is the church that I call home and has the community to back it up!

My favorite character is a toss up between Ruth and Job. They both endured so much but still gave God glory and had faith He had everything under control.

My favorite thing to do in Tucson is go out to eat! Tucson has some many hidden gems and amazing food!

Other things about me; I am a die hard Disney fan and love my pets!

I was raised in Tucson, the son of a "preacher man". I have 2 older sisters. I was a wayward son, then a single dad for many years. I re-committed my life to Christ at 38 years of age. Foothills Community Church has been my home ever since!

My favorite Bible characters are Old Testament heroes - Daniel, Samson, David & Solomon - They were devoted, broken, and flawed, but they were still used by God to fulfill His plan.

Some of my favorite things to do in Tucson are: Enjoy the sunsets; take walks in the early morning; and take friends & family to local attractions, like the Desert Museum, Kitt Peak & Sabino Canyon.

I have been happily married for 21 years to my best friend Liz, who was my "Little Brother's mother" - ask me how that happened!
